CHANDIGARH: In a significant political development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dealt a blow to the Congress in the Majha region as Jagwinder Pal Singh, popularly known as Jagga Majithia, crossed party lines to join AAP. Jagga Majithia, who was the Congress candidate in the 2022 assembly elections from Majitha, was formally inducted into the Aam Aadmi Party by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Notably, Jagwinder Pal Singh Jagga boasts a long and distinguished political career, having been associated with the Congress since 1987. He has held various positions within the party, including serving as a councilor in 1992, General Secretary of Youth Punjab Congress in 1999, and District President of Amritsar Rural in the early 2000s. His decision to contest the 2022 Punjab assembly elections on a Congress ticket underscored his significant influence and stature in the Majitha region.

Jagga Majithia's switch to the AAP comes as part of a growing trend in Punjab, where several prominent leaders and figures are aligning themselves with AAP, ahead of the upcoming municipal elections and the next general elections.Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann formally welcomed Jagga Majithia to the AAP ranks. Mann expressed his delight in witnessing leaders like Jagga, who are committed to serving the people of Punjab, joining the party. He reiterated that the people of Punjab have shown appreciation for the AAP government's work and policies.

CM Mann emphasized that AAP's influence and presence in Punjab continue to grow steadily, thanks to leaders like Jagga Majithia and the unwavering support from the people of the state.
