Cyclone Biparjoy

CHANDIGARH: Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to have an impact on nine districts of Punjab, including East Malwa, according to meteorological reports. The local meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, and East Malwa from Sunday to Tuesday. It is anticipated that wind speeds may reach up to 40 km per hour during this period.

In light of this forecast, farmers have been advised to avoid venturing into the fields and to seek shelter in sturdy structures. The authorities have specifically cautioned against occupying crude or weak houses and have advised individuals to stay away from glass windows to ensure their safety during the storm.

Meanwhile, in contrast to the affected districts, the remaining parts of Punjab, including the four districts of Majhe-Doaba, are likely to experience heatwave conditions. Biparjoy, while causing trouble in other states, is expected to bring about pleasant weather in Punjab. The region may witness strong winds on Sunday and Monday, but the anticipated damage is not significant. As a result of the minor impact of Biparjoy in Majha and Doaba regions, temperatures are expected to rise.

Notably, the meteorological department remains vigilant and continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in the affected areas.
