Chandigarh, February 19: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of late Chief Minister Beant Singh, a Sarv Dharam Prarthna Sabha was organized at Beant Singh Memorial in Sector 42, Chandigarh. People paid floral tributes to the Former Chief Minister during the state-level remembrance meet held at the memorial. A pledge was undertaken to maintain the unity and integrity of the country and to end the menace of drugs, terrorism, separatism and corruption.

A tribute was also paid to the soldiers who were killed in the attack in Pulwama. Paying tributes to the late Chief Minister, a large number of the leaders present hailed the efforts made by him towards  restoring  peace in the state and  eradicating  militancy. It was also recalled that during the troubled period of militancy in Punjab, S. Beant Singh served as a fearless Chief Minister who provided strong and determined leadership to the State.

Paying warm tributes, MLA Gurkirat Kotli said that many anti-national forces are trying to create a rift in unity and integrity of the Nation through a terrorist attacks akin Pulwama, but people will not let their nefarious plans succeed. He said that the late Chief Minister had made a tremendous contribution to restore the unity and brotherhood of the state and ‘we will not let divisive forces disrupt the social fabric of the country’. 

He said that Sardar Beant Singh guarded people's interests for four decades and laid down his life for the State, an example are rarely seen. He added that we need to follow the path shown by him. In the prayer meet,  apart from S. Beant Singh's family members, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, Gur Iqbal Singh and Bikram Singh Mofar, Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, former Minister Malkit Singh Dakha, Sanjay Talwar, Angad Saini, Surinder Dabur(all MLAs),

Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, Mangat Rai Bansal, Shamsher Singh Rai(all former MLAs), Bathinda District President Kushbaz Singh Jatana, District President  Ludhiana( Rural)  Soni Galib, Bant Singh Doraha, Khanna district president Sukhdeep Singh, Mayor of Ludhiana Balkar Singh, PPCC general secretary Kamaljit Singh Dhillon, K.K. Bawa, Amarjeet Oberoi, Resham Singh, Harkesh Chand Sharma and Satnam Singh Ahuja, Jarnail Singh Shimlapuri, Advocate Harpreet Singh Gharuan and Ashwani Sharma were also present.
