MOHALI: A Video of Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira allegedly named in the drug smuggling case and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is going viral on social media. In this video, both the leaders can be seen together on a stage. Users are sharing this video calling it recent.

MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, named by the SIT in the 2015 drug smuggling case, has been sent to Nabha jail in judicial custody till October 27 after the end of 6 consecutive days of his police remand and Punjab and Haryana High Court will give its verdict on the bail plea of Sukhpal Khaira on October 19.

A Facebook page shared the reel of the viral video on October 6 and claimed it as recent.

Spokesman in its investigation found that this viral video is not recent but from 2015. Now the old video is being made viral by claiming it to be recent.

Starting the investigation, we first watched this video carefully and found that in this video all the leaders are wearing jackets and Sukhpal Khaira is wearing the Aam Aadmi Party strap on his turban.

Now, we searched keywords keeping this in mind. During search, we found this viral video shared by media agency "ANI" on their official YouTube channel in the year 2015.

According to the video report, Sukhpal Singh Khaira has left Congress and joined Aam Aadmi Party.

It is noteworthy that Sukhpal Singh Khaira had contested the elections in 2017 on Aam Aadmi Party ticket. Many media organizations had published news about Sukhpal Singh Khaira leaving Congress and joining Aam Aadmi Party. Previous stories can be read by clicking here and here.

Hence, It is clear that the viral video is not recent but from year 2015.
