Centers for Innovation, Invention & Incubation dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev ji & Guru Gobind Singh ji to be set up at Sultanpur Lodhi: Channi

The Technical Education & Industrial Training and Employment Generation Minister, Punjab, Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi disclosed today that Tata Technologies in collaboration with IKPTU to setup 5 Centers for Innovation, Invention & Incubation (CIIITs) in the state to promote technical education and Skill development. He said that CIIITs dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev ji would be set up at Sultanpur Lodhi & IKG PTU Main Campus, Kapurthala and those dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh Ji would be set up at Chamkaur Sahib and IKGPTU Campus Ladowali, Jalandhar.

Earlier, an MOU for setting up these centres was signed here today between Tata Technologies, and I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU). The MoU was signed by Anand Bhade, President, APAC Sales, Global Marketing & Communications, Tata Technologies and Prof. (Dr.) Ajay K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, IKGPTU in the presence of Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi, Mr. D.K. Tewari, Secretary Technical Education and Mr. Parveen Thind Director Technical Education.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi said that Tata Technologies and IK Gujral Punjab Technical University have joined hands to uplift and promote Technical Education in the state. He said that these CIIITs would work to facilitate and develop the skill sets required to bridge the skill gap and enhance employability prospects of students in the manufacturing sector.

Mr. DK Tewari Secretary Technical Education speaking on the occasion said that this collaboration is oriented towards bringing about qualitative improvements in technical education with the aim of establishing Punjab as a preferred manufacturing investment destination. "As a leading engineering services provider, Tata Technologies is perfectly aligned with our goal of propelling Punjab to a prosperous knowledge society. The setting-up of the CIIITs will enable improved employability, entrepreneurship and availability of skilled resources in the state,” said Professor (Dr.) Ajay K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, IKGPTU. 

Talking about this association, Mr. Anand Bhade, President, APAC Sales, Global Marketing & Communications – Tata Technologies said, that these centres would impart practical knowledge to 1 lakh students in Punjab to make them employable. He said that partners such as PTC, MSC Software are supporting them in this industry-academia initiative. These centres will have further centers namely ‘Product Design and Development’, ‘Domain Exploration’, ‘Mechatronics and IoT’ and lastly ‘Advanced Integrated Manufacturing Center’.
