CHANDIGARH: The State Election Commission of Punjab has officially released a comprehensive schedule for the meticulous preparation of voter lists ahead of the impending general elections in five crucial Municipal Corporations. The general elections are slated to be held in the Municipal Corporations of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Phagwara.

This pivotal announcement was made through notification no. 06/09/2023-5LG1/1015, dated October 5, 2023. The notification signifies a significant step toward orchestrating democratic processes across these major regions of Punjab.

As per the latest ward allocation orchestrated by the Local Government Department, the State Election Commission has meticulously devised a structured timetable for the seamless compilation of voter lists. The schedule entails the following key stages:

Program for Preparation of Electoral Rolls:

-Date of Preparation of Electoral Rolls: Up to October 19, 2023
-Date of Publication of Draft Electoral Rolls: By October 21, 2023
-Last date for filing claims and objections: October 31, 2023
-Settlement of Claims and Objections: Up to November 8, 2023
-Final publication of voter list: November 10, 2023

A Spokesperson for the State Election Commission has urged the general public residing within the jurisdiction of these five Municipal Corporations to actively engage in the electoral process. Citizens are encouraged to visit their respective Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) during the stipulated time frame and submit any claims or objections they may have regarding the electoral rolls.
