Punjab Weather Update: Get Ready For Heatwaves! IMD Issues Orange Alert

Punjab Heatwave Weather Orange Alert News Update: The India Meteorological Department on Thursday issued an alert of heat wave to severe heat wave across Punjab for the next four days. 

According to the information, a yellow alert has been issued in the whole of Punjab for Friday i.e. May 17. Afterward, an orange alert has been issued in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Firozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, and Mansa for three days, from May 18 to May 20. 

During the same period, a yellow alert has been issued for the remaining districts. 

As per the yellow alert, heat wave conditions are predicted at isolated pockets for 2 days. However, no action is required as there would be a comfortable temperature. 

As per the orange alert, severe heat wave conditions are predicted at isolated pockets for 2 days. This might result in rising temperatures and heat illness symptoms in people who would either be exposed to the sun for a prolonged period or doing heavy work. 

Therefore, people have been advised to avoid heat exposure and stay cool. People have been cautioned to maintain hydration and drink sufficient water even if not thirsty.
