Punjab Police will relocate seven prominent aides of Amritpal Singh from Dibrugarh Jail to be arrested in connection with the attack on Ajnala Police Station. The persons, who had been arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) for two years, will be officially arrested in the case of the February 23, 2023 attack, when Amritpal Singh and his followers attacked the Ajnala Police Station to liberate an associate.
Among those who were arrested are Basant Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Gurmeet Singh Gill, Sarabjeet Singh Kalsi, Gurinderpal Singh Aujla, Harjeet Singh, and Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal. A police task force of top officers, headed by SP Harinder Singh Gill, has been deployed at Dibrugarh to carry out the arrests. The accused will be produced before court to obtain transit remand and return to Punjab for trial. The Punjab Police is determined to bring the culprits to book in several cases throughout the state.
