Farmers Protest 2024: 62-year-old Gyan Singh from Gurdaspur dies at Shambhu border

Farmers Protest 2024 Death News: In a shocking development, 65-year-old Gyan Singh from Gurdaspur reportedly died due to a heart attack at the Shambhu border where farmers have stayed put as a part of their 'Delhi Chalo' call.

Reportedly, this is the first death during the farmers' protest in 2024. The farmers have been criticizing the Haryana government and the state police for their atrocities against the farmers who want to go to Delhi to peacefully protest against the Central government in order to emphasize their demands.

Farmer Leader Sarwan Singh Pandher was asked about the death of a farmer named Gyan Singh, who was a member of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) due to a heart attack, at the Shambhu border on Friday morning. He said, “Central government is the reason behind this agitation. We have a lot of people here (Shambhu border) participating in the protest including elders. We are facing difficulties in receiving medicines at the right time and even getting food, and resting."

Notably, the farmers across India are observing Bharat Bandh today. Farmers have been protesting against the Central Government to emphasize their demands that include a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), loan waiver, pension scheme, and justice for the victims of Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has offered support to the farmers' agitation as they believe that farmers have the right to protest and that their demands are valid.
