Punjab Weather Update

Punjab Weather Update: In a distressing turn of events, two individuals have lost their lives in Punjab due to the ongoing severe cold wave gripping the region. As temperatures continue to plummet, people are choosing to stay indoors to shield themselves from the biting cold.

The Cold claimed its first victim in Ghoda Wala village, Fazilka, where an elderly man tragically succumbed to the harsh weather conditions. The relentless cold wave has prompted residents to take extra precautions, especially the vulnerable sections of the population. Adding to the somber toll, a young individual lost his life due to the intense cold in Dera Bassi. The community is urged to prioritize safety measures and extend support to those who may be more susceptible to the adverse effects of the weather.

Record-Breaking Cold in Ropar: Temperature Drops to 4.2 Degrees Celsius

Thursday witnessed Ropar experiencing the brunt of the cold wave, with temperatures plummeting to a chilling 4.2 degrees Celsius. Widespread fog was reported in various areas, further intensifying the prevailing weather conditions.

The Meteorological Department reported temperature readings for key cities in Punjab on Thursday. Ludhiana recorded 6.8 degrees Celsius, Patiala at 7.6, Pathankot at 5.6, Amritsar at 7, and Bathinda at 6 degrees Celsius. These frigid temperatures emphasize the severity of the cold gripping the state.

According to the Meteorological Department in Chandigarh, the weather is expected to remain clear on December 19 in Punjab. However, fog is anticipated in the morning and evening, contributing to reduced visibility on the roads. The forecast suggests a likely escalation in the intensity of the cold wave in the coming days.

As the region grapples with dense fog, the risk of accidents has escalated. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution during travel and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
