CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Addresses 'Govt-Industry Meet' to Boost Rural Industrialization & Job Creation
JALANDHAR: In a significant push towards fostering industrial growth in Punjab, particularly in rural regions, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann extended a warm invitation to industrialists to establish industrial units in the state's rural areas. Speaking during the 'Government-Industry Meet' held in Jalandhar, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of nurturing industrialization in rural pockets, recognizing it as a crucial step to accomplish two vital objectives, driving industrial development and generating employment opportunities for rural youth.
CM Mann assured industrialists of unwavering government support in setting up their ventures in these areas, underscoring the state government's commitment to expedite industrial progress.
Highlighting the state's vision, CM Mann revealed plans to construct a convention center in Jalandhar, strategically located near the airport and railway station, aimed at providing convenience to industrialists. He reiterated his dedication to advancing industrial development within the state.
Proudly acknowledging Punjab's remarkable achievement in the MSME sector, Chief Minister Mann pointed out that the state had outperformed the rest of the nation. Punjab is currently home to an impressive 2.75 lakh MSMEs, with the highest registration of units in the country. CM Mann emphasized the significant role of MSMEs in driving socio-economic development, both at the state and national levels.

In a direct critique of opposition parties, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of connecting with the people while in power. He noted that politicians who neglected this essential aspect of governance had been sidelined by the people of Punjab. He emphasized that a new era had begun in the state, where people-friendly decisions were now taking precedence in the government's agenda.
Chief Minister Mann highlighted the present government's commitment to serving the public by managing hospitals, schools, and other public welfare initiatives, contrasting it with the previous administration's alleged corruption.
The CM also criticized previous governments for imposing restrictions on industrialists and labeling them as wrongdoers. He affirmed that the state now boasts a genuinely pro-industry government with a streamlined single-window system, replacing the previous bureaucratic hurdles. The Chief Minister highlighted the state government's efforts in ensuring a consistent supply of coal from backlog coal mines, which had resumed after 2015. He condemned the previous governments for unjustly extracting funds from private thermal plots by halting coal supply from these mines. He assured that uninterrupted power supply was now provided to industries, even during the paddy season.
Chief Minister Mann pledged the state's commitment to transforming Punjab into the country's industrial hub, despite the financial challenges inherited from previous administrations. He underscored the state government's determination to safeguard Punjab's interests and its resistance to unfavorable decisions imposed by the central government.
The Chief Minister concluded by highlighting the fulfillment of promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, particularly in sectors such as health, education, and electricity. He noted that even promises not initially made had been kept, reflecting the government's commitment to its constituents.
Furthermore, CM Mann mentioned the initiation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects for the development of focal points and the establishment of police posts in industrial areas to maintain law and order. He emphasized the government's accomplishments in the past 18 months, surpassing those of previous administrations spanning over seven decades.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Maan, Lok Sabha Member Sushil Kumar Rinku, Rajya Sabha Member Raghav Chadha, and prominent personalities Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, Vikramjit Sahni, Ashok Mittal, and Sanjeev Arora. Notably, Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma provided an overview of the state's industrial development in the last 18 months of the government's tenure.
