LUDHIANA: Three workers died in a massive fire at Ganesh hosiery factory in Ludhiana district. It has been stated that this factory was running without NOC. There were no proper fire fighting arrangements in the factory. The deceased have been identified as Ashwani Kumar, Gulshan Kumar and Kulwant Singh while two other workers are undergoing treatment at DMC Hospital. The police have registered a case against the factory owner in this matter.

According to information, fire broke out in Ganesh hosiery factory near lakkar Bridge. Meanwhile, around 24 workers were working inside. Neighbors saw the smoke and informed the fire brigade. The second floor of the factory was completely burnt to ashes. 8 vehicles of the fire brigade reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. Most of the workers were evacuated but five were trapped inside. It took about 5 hours to control the fire.

Notably, There was no safe way to enter the factory. The fire had spread everywhere. Due to this, the fire brigade employees took ladders from the nearby roofs and took out the injured. As it is a densely populated area, the police evacuated the surrounding houses as a precaution. Sub-Inspector of Police Station Division No. 8 Vijay Kumar said that the matter is being investigated and action will be taken as per law.
