Mutual coordination by both states in cooperation sector to benefit farmers: Subhashji Deshmukh

Cooperation Ministers of Maharashtra & Punjab perform inauguration

Chandigarh, November 14: The Cooperation and Textiles Minister, Maharashtra, Mr. Subhashji Deshmukh and Cooperation Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today inaugurated the sale of products manufactured by ‘MAHAFED’ (Maharashtra) here at Markfed Bazaar in sector-22.

On the occasion, Mr. Deshmukh, who arrived specially at the invitation of S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa for inauguration of the 65th All India Cooperation Week, said that both Punjab and Maharashtra are predominantly agrarian states where cooperation sector occupies a place of prominence. He also said that the mutual coordination by both the states in the cooperation sector would usher in an era of prosperity for the farming community.

He further divulged that a high level delegation of Markfed had visited Maharashtra in July this year under the leadership of S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and it was during this very visit that it was decided to make the products of Markfed and MAHAFED available for sale in each other’s state.

S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on the occasion termed it as a matter of great pride that Punjab is collaborating with the state of Maharashtra which is a leading state in cooperation sector. Thanking his counterpart from Maharashtra, S. Randhawa said that by the end of this month the products manufactured by Markfed would be available for sale in Pune as well as Nagpur given the great demand these products command there.

Both the ministers also conducted a tour of the Markfed Bazaar. Among others present on the occasion included MP from Sangli (Maharshtra) Mr. Sanjay Kaka Patil, OSD to the Cooperation Minister Maharashtra-Dr. Rajaram Dighe, MD, MCDC Mr. Milind Akre, MD Markfed Mr. Varun Roojam and the Deputy Chief Manager Mr. Sanjeev Manaktala.
