Safety Concerns Prompt Punjab's Decision to Prolong School Closures
MOHALI: Punjab continues to grapple with water scarcity and severe flooding in various districts. In light of the ongoing crisis, the Punjab government has made the decision to extend school holidays until July 16th. This announcement applies to both government/aided/recognized schools and private schools across the state.
Harjot Bains, the Education Minister of Punjab, conveyed that this decision was made following the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan. Given the prevailing rain-induced safety concerns, the Punjab government has prioritized the well-being of students and staff members, warranting an extension of the school closure period.
The water shortage and flooding have significantly impacted the normal functioning of schools and posed risks to students' safety. In order to ensure a secure learning environment and protect the welfare of all stakeholders, the government has taken this proactive measure.
