“Become Job Givers”: CM Mann Urges Punjab Youth at First-Ever Startup Conclave

On Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the state’s first Startup Punjab Conclave 2026 at Lovely Professional University (LPU) to transform the state’s economic landscape. The Chief Minister asserted that the state government is fully committed to supporting new ventures, and addressing a gathering of over 100 budding entrepreneurs, he said, "no shortage of funds" for innovative business ideas.

The conclave was organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce as a platform for startups, investors, and policymakers for collaboration. During the event, the Punjab government disbursed seed grants and incentives to encourage the next generation of business leaders. Specifically, seven startups received seed grants of INR 3 lakh each, while another venture was provided INR 1.20 lakh as lease rental assistance.

CM Mann urged young Punjabis to adopt the mantra of "Update and Create", emphasising the goal of shifting the youth from "job seekers" to "job creators". He noted that the Industrial and Business Development Policy 2022 now provides a robust framework for entrepreneurs, with a specific focus on women-led startups and first-generation business owners.

Referring to his recent visit to Japan, the Chief Minister encouraged the youth to adopt a forward-looking mindset to succeed on a global stage. Dignitaries present included Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora and Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal.
