Water level to surge in Beas-Sutlej in Punjab, 20K cusecs of water ti be released from Pong Dam

Meteorological Department has issued an alert for normal rain in West Malwa

BEAS: Surge in the water level of Beas and Sutlej rivers are expected in Punjab today and tomorrow i.e. Thursday. In fact, the Bhakra Dam management has decided to release about 55 cusecs of water from Pong Dam and Bhakra Dam for the next two days. There is no concern in the areas around the Beas but when water is released in the Sutlej, there may be problems in the low lying areas.

It is worth mentioning here that the Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for normal rain in West Malwa today and rain in the whole of Punjab on Thursday. If there is more than normal rainfall, there may be a problem in West Malwa. According to the issued warning, 20 thousand cusecs of water is to be released from Pong Dam at 10 am today and 35 thousand cusecs of water from Bhakra Dam at 10 am on Thursday.
