FARIDKOT: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former deputy chief minister of the state Sukhbir Singh Badal reached the court of Faridkot in connection with the 2015 Kotkapura Firing Case. He appeared in the court of Judicial Magistrate Ajay Pal Singh here. Sukhbir Singh Badal reached Faridkot at around 12:30 and within 4 minutes, he attended the court hearing and left.

It is worth mentioning here that he was nominated in FIR No. 129/2018 related to the Kotkapura Firing case. A large number of Akali Dal workers and leaders were present outside the court regarding the appearance of Sukhbir Singh Badal. Sukhbir Badal, who came out after appearing in the court, called the central government's reduction of up to Rs 31 on the purchase of damaged wheat as illegal. They demanded immediate withdrawal of this order issued in the name of value reduction.

Apart from this, the then SHO of City Kotkapura police station Gurdeep Singh Pandher, nominated in the case number 192/2015 related to the Kotkapura Firing incident, also appeared in the court while only the lawyers of the other nominees have appeared in the Faridkot court. The court has scheduled the next hearing of this case on April 25.

The name of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is also involved in the Kotkapura Firing incident. At the time when this firing took place, Parkash Singh Badal was the Chief Minister of the state. Parkash Singh Badal had taken an exemption from the appearance on Wednesday due to health reasons.
