Petrol and diesel to not be available in Punjab, No Purchase Day: Petrol and diesel consumers are likely to face a huge shortage of the fuels as the Petrol Pump Dealers Association, Punjab (PPDAP) has announced to stop the sale of fuels across the state on February 22.

Upset over the delay in the hike of dealer margins since August 2017, the Petrol Pump Dealers Association, Punjab (PPDAP) has decided to stop the sale of petrol and diesel in the state on February 22.

As per PPDAP President Paramjit Singh Doaba, the oil marketing companies (OMCs) have not been increasing the margins of petroleum dealers, which were last revised in August 2017. A memorandum has also been sent to the presidents of oil companies regarding increasing the dealer margin and its copy has also been sent to the Prime Minister.

PPDAP spokesperson Monty Gurmeet Sehgal said that it has now been decided that petroleum dealers across the state will observe no purchase day on February 15 and will not purchase petrol and diesel from oil companies. After this, the petrol and diesel will not be sold at petrol pumps on February 22. He also said that the association will support the call of Bharat Bandh by farmer unions on February 16.

PPDAP has announced that there will be no sale of petrol and diesel across the state on February 22. However, there could be a shortage of petrol and diesel in the state on February 17 as well. The reason is that on February 15, it was decided not to make any kind of purchase from oil companies.

The stock of petrol pumps will also reach its minimum level in two days. In such a situation, there may be a shortage of petrol and diesel on February 17 as well.
