Food Safety Team Action during Festive Season: In an effort to guarantee the availability of top-quality food items during the upcoming festive period, the Health Department's food safety team, led by Commissioner Abhinav Trikha and Deputy Commissioner Malerkotla Dr. Pallavi's guidance, conducted a comprehensive inspection across various cities in Punjab. Under the special checking campaign, a significant quantity of suspected adulterated products was seized, with a focus on enhancing consumer safety and food standards.

Food Safety Officer Divyajot Kaur confirmed the seizure of 11 quintals of desi ghee and two cartons of mixed fat spread during the inspection. These samples will undergo rigorous laboratory testing, and subsequent legal action will be taken under the Food Safety Act. In addition to the seizure, the department has already collected 63 samples of food and drink items, leading to the disposal of approximately 60 kg of dark-colored sweets and 75 kg of non-standard cream.

The department issued a stern warning to shopkeepers, emphasizing the use of approved colors in line with the Food Safety and Standards Act, adherence to high-quality standards, and the utmost attention to cleanliness during the production and sale of goods. Any discovery of substandard or adulterated food items will result in strict punitive measures against the responsible sellers.
