A similar incident occurred in Faridpur village of Nabha block, where around 140 passengers were travelling in an overloaded PRTC bus.
The bus’s springs broke, causing it to crash directly into a huge tree, which shattered into pieces. Locals rushed to the spot, rescued the passengers from the bus, and sent them to different hospitals for treatment. The cause of the accident is being attributed to the bus carrying more passengers than its capacity.
The bus was left completely mangled. The incident took place earlier this morning, when the PRTC bus was travelling from Mallewal to Patiala with around 140 passengers on board. Reports suggest that nearly 15 passengers were injured, including the bus conductor and driver, both of whom suffered broken legs. It is also reported that a girl sustained a fractured jaw, while several others received minor injuries.
Villagers said they rushed to the spot after hearing a loud explosion-like sound. A massive tree had collapsed onto the bus, adding to the devastation. Among the passengers were school students and employees on their way to different offices.
