Punjab Vidhan Sabha Special Session Extension Latest News Today: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Special Session Extension Latest News Today: The Punjab Vidhan Sabha’s special session, initially scheduled for two days starting July 10, has now been extended till July 15, 2025. The extension follows mounting political pressure and public criticism regarding the limited scope of the original session.

The first day of the session was reserved exclusively for obituary references, a customary practice but one that drew sharp reactions from opposition parties who questioned the need for a special session when no substantial legislative business was scheduled.

Opposition leaders slammed the move, calling it “a waste of legislative time” and accused the ruling government of using procedural formalities to sidestep urgent public issues.

In response to the backlash, the government announced the extension of the session, with proceedings now continuing till July 15. Harpal Cheema stated that the additional days will be used to table key bills and hold important discussions.

The extension offers the government an opportunity to make up for the slow start.
