Learning Beyond Textbooks: LPU’s ‘EduRevolution’ Claims New World Record in Culinary Arts

Lovely Professional University (LPU) has reached a new global milestone by securing its sixth Guinness World Record. The university's School of Hotel Management and Tourism achieved the feat by creating the world’s largest display of macarons, meticulously arranged to depict the Indian national flag.

The record-breaking display featured 10,829 tricolour macarons, comfortably surpassing the previous benchmark of 9,600. This project was executed by students and faculty, showcasing both technical culinary skill and national pride.

Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, LPU Founder Chancellor and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), described the achievement as a practical example of the university’s "EduRevolution" philosophy, where hands-on experience in complex patisserie arts takes precedence over traditional textbook learning.

This latest accomplishment adds to LPU’s growing list of world records, which began with a massive Bhangra performance and a drug awareness lesson in 2018. Subsequent records include a 2021 online video album, a unique thumb push-up record, and a 2022 social advocacy initiative involving the world's longest line of sanitary pads. By mastering the intricate craft required for this culinary display, LPU continues to emphasise real-world outcomes and global excellence within its curriculum.
