Chandigarh, January 11: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday expressed profound grief over the demise of Chief Editor of Mehram Group of Publications BS Bir, who breathed his last in a private hospital at Mohali early this morning after prolonged illness. Bir is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister recalled Bir’s outstanding contribution in the promotion of Punjabi literature, language and culture.

The passing away of the eminent Punjabi litterateur and journalist was a big loss to the journalistic and literary fraternity, Captain Amarinder Singh said. The Chief Minister said BS Bir was a multifaceted personality and a fine human being who had left an indelible mark on the minds and hearts of Punjabis. The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. The CM’s Media Advisor Raveen Thukral also condoled the death of the journalist, recalling his immense contribution to Punjabi media.
