Punjab Floods: Snake Bite On Rise Along With Diseases, 37 Cases In Gurdaspur Latest News: As Punjab is hit by one of the worst floods in recent times, inundating a large number of villages in the state, snake bites are continuously increasing in the state along with water-related diseases.

In Gurdaspur district, 37 cases of snake bites have been reported so far, most of which are from flood-affected areas. All these patients have been successfully treated and have returned home. However, the threat of snakes still persists in these regions.

Sharing information on this issue, Civil Surgeon of Gurdaspur, Jaswinder Singh, said that Kalanaur was the most affected area due to floodwaters, and from this area alone, 24 cases of snake bites have been reported. Six cases were reported from Gurdaspur and one from Dera Baba Nanak. He said that these 31 cases are only from flood-affected areas, while six other cases came from different regions.

He further informed that all these patients were successfully treated and have already been discharged from hospitals. He also added that more than 1,100 doses of anti-venom injections are available in the Civil Hospital, so there is no need to panic.

He appealed to people that in case of a snake bite, the nearest health center should be immediately informed so that the patient can receive timely treatment.

Singh also cautioned residents of flood-affected areas to remain alert, as the threat of snakes may increase further after the floodwaters recede.
