Punjab Weather Update Latest News Today: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued issued an alert of heavy rainfall in Punjab for August 11, 2024. It is expected that there may be good rains in the entire state. The maximum temperature has increased by an average of 0.9 degrees Celsius in the past day. 

The IMD had issued a yellow alert for Saturday as well, however, the situation in the state was almost normal. Now, a yellow alert has been issued for Sunday as well. 

The maximum temperature of Faridkot and Samrala in Ludhiana was recorded at 38.2 degrees Celsius. According to the India Meteorological Center (IMD), a yellow alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, and Rupnagar. Heavy rains are expected here, while rain is also expected in the rest of the state.

Least rain in Punjab

Notably, Punjab has become the driest state in the country as the least rain occurred here in this monsoon season.

Punjab should have received 273.6 mm of rain since June 1, but only 157.2 mm of rain has been recorded so far. This rainfall is 43% less than normal. On the other hand, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana have also recorded less rain.
