Court lifts ban from Amar Singh Chamkila's Biopic
The next hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on July 7
CHANDIGARH: The Court has lifted the ban from the biopic of famous singer Amar Singh Chamkila. With this, Reliance Entertainment, producer Imtiaz Ali, actor Diljit Dosanjh, actress Parineeti Chopra and others have got major relief. Civil Judge Senior Division Sumit Makkar rejected the petitioner's stay application during the hearing.
The next hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on July 7. Earlier, the then Civil Judge, Senior Division, Harsimranjit Singh ordered Reliance Entertainment, Imtiaz Ali Producers and others besides Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Gurmail Kaur for broadcasting, releasing, uploading the biopic of Amar Singh Chamkila and Bibi Amarjot Kaur.
The Court issued the said order while hearing the petition filed by Ishjit Randhawa and Sanjot Randhawa, sons of late producer Gurdev Singh Randhawa. It has been argued in the petition that on 12 October 2012 Amar Singh Chamkila's widow had given her father the right to make a biopic of her husband in writing. After the death of her father, the accused made a biopic on Amar Singh Chamkila and Bibi Amarjot Kaur with connivance.
