Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Announces Rs 2 Crore Ex-Gratia for Martyred Sub-Inspector, latest news: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 crore for Sub-Inspector Charanjit Singh, who was martyred in the line of duty.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister in a post on X, stating, "Thank you, Hon'ble CM Punjab @BhagwantMann, for announcing Rs 2 crore for our martyr Sub-Inspector Charanjit Singh. Salute to the brave officer who laid down his life in the line of duty in Tarn Taran. His immense courage and commitment to service will always be remembered. @PunjabPoliceInd looks after its martyrs and their families."
The ex-gratia includes Rs 1 crore from the Punjab Government and another Rs 1 crore from the Punjab Police Welfare Insurance by HDFC Bank.
Sub-Inspector Charanjit Singh was shot dead on Wednesday night while attempting to stop a violent clash between two groups in Kot Mohammad Khan village, Tarn Taran. The police team from Goindwal Sahib police station was attacked during the intervention. Head Constable Harvinder Singh was injured, and over 20 people have been detained. Tarn Taran SSP Abhimanyu Rana confirmed that a strict investigation is underway and action will be taken against all those involved.
