20% of Restaurants Closed as LPG Shortage Hits, Says President of Indian Hotel & Restaurant Association

Indian Hotel & Restaurant Association (AHAR) President Vijay K. Shetty on Tuesday said that 20% of restaurants have already closed due to a shortage of LPG.

Speaking to ANI in Mumbai, Shetty said, “After the US-Israel vs Iran war, supply of cylinders at our restaurant has been drastically hit, especially after Thursday.”

“The crisis has been increasing since the past two days,” he added.

Talking about the black marketing of LPG cylinders amid the shortage, he said, “I am also receiving messages from our members from all over Mumbai that there is black marketing going on regarding the LPG cylinder.”

He further stated that Consumer Protection Minister Chhagan Bahujbal has assured him that he will raise the concern before CM Devendra Fadnavis.

Concerns over the LPG shortage are widespread, with states like Karnataka and cities like Chennai being among the first affected, as per reports.
