On Saturday, the Punjab Government ordered the transfer and promotion of 22 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers with immediate effect. According to the official orders issued by the Department of Home Affairs, the reshuffle includes new Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) for three key districts and a significant elevation of officers from the 2011 and 2012 batches.
In a high-profile move, Jyoti Yadav (IPS 2019), who was serving as SSP Khanna, has been posted as the new SSP of Bathinda. She is the wife of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
Maninder Singh (IPS 2019) has been appointed as the new SSP of Rupnagar, while Darpan Ahluwalia (IPS 2020) takes charge as SSP Khanna.
The orders also confirmed several senior promotions to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Inspector General (IG). Outgoing Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal has been promoted to DIG rank and posted as DIG Personnel.
Similarly, Gulneet Singh Khurana has been elevated to DIG and assigned to the Counter Intelligence wing.
Senior officers promoted to the rank of IG include Jagdale Nilambari Vijay and Rajpal Singh. Furthermore, Kaustubh Sharma has been promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Human Rights. "The order, issued by the Department of Home Affairs, confirmed that these changes are effective immediately on administrative grounds as part of a major promotion and transfer exercise involving senior IPS batches."
