Amritsar police arrest man with 9 kg heroin, probe cross-border drone smuggling
Officials said several consignments of heroin sent from Pakistan through drones have been seized earlier as well.
Amritsar police have arrested a person and recovered nine kilograms of heroin from his possession in a major crackdown on drug smuggling.
The arrest and recovery were made by the Counter-Intelligence wing of Amritsar Police. According to officials, the arrested accused has links with drug smugglers operating across the border in Pakistan, and the heroin was allegedly smuggled into India using a drone.
An FIR has been registered by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar, and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused involved in the case.
Officials said several consignments of heroin sent from Pakistan through drones have been seized earlier as well.
The SSOC is also investigating the intended supply network of the seized heroin and in which parts of Punjab it was to be distributed.
