Chandigarh, 9th March: The Punjab government employees have been on an indefinite strike which entered two days now demanding a clarity on the Dearness Allowance issue. Captain Amarinder Singh appealed to the employees on Friday evening to end their strike and return to their work. He asked the protestors to resume their duties and work in the interest of the people of Punjab.

He assured the employees decisions to be taken by the committee of ministers on employees' issues will be implemented in letter and in spirit. The committee constituted for the matter comprises of Health minister Brahm Mohindra, Finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Technical Education minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

The CM made it clear in a review meeting with the committee that all the decisions taken by it would be implemented diligently and, in a time bound manner. He cited the example of the government’s decision of releasing 7% DA to all government employees with effect from February 1 2019, despite of the financial crunch the government is facing. He once again reiterated that it was the previous regime which was responsible for creating a legacy of high debt for the state.
