Barnala Youth Ends Life Over Visa Rejections latest News: Barnala, June 8: A heart-wrenching incident has emerged from Barnala district’s Sukhpura village, where a 20-year-old youth, Dilpreet Singh, took his own life after repeated visa rejections left him emotionally distressed.
According to preliminary information, Dilpreet Singh, son of Ajaib Singh, was the only son of the family. He had completed his education and had been trying for a long time to move to Canada, where his sister is currently residing. However, multiple visa refusals reportedly pushed him into depression.
Early on Sunday morning, Dilpreet allegedly used a licensed rifle at his home to end his life. The tragic news has left his family and the local community in deep shock and mourning.
SHO Gurminder Singh from Sehna Police Station confirmed that the police are investigating the matter thoroughly. Based on the statements of family members, a case has been registered under Section 194 BNS, and the postmortem of the deceased has been conducted. The body will be handed over to the family for last rites.
Residents of the village and those close to the family have expressed their grief and urged young people not to take extreme steps under pressure. The incident has once again highlighted the growing psychological burden among youth aspiring to settle abroad, often leading to tragic consequences.
As investigations continue, authorities have called for increased awareness and support for mental health, especially for youth dealing with migration stress.
