BBMB Chairman Detained Over Unauthorized Attempt To Release Water to Haryana

BBMB Chairman Detention Latest News Today: In a dramatic development, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) Chairman Manoj Tripathi and the board’s Secretary have been detained for allegedly attempting to release water to Haryana without authorization. The detention has sparked a political storm in Punjab, with Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Harjot Bains confirming the incident.
Bains stated, “The BBMB Chairman tried to release water to Haryana, bypassing proper protocols. He will not be released until strict action is taken against him.” Sources indicate that Tripathi is currently being held at a rest house in Nangal, under tight security.
The AAP leader has also demanded the immediate registration of a case against the BBMB Chairman for his actions, which are seen as a violation of Punjab’s water rights. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accompanied by the state’s Advocate General, is en route to Nangal to address the situation, signaling the government’s intent to handle the matter with utmost seriousness.
This incident has intensified the ongoing water-sharing dispute between Punjab and Haryana, with Punjab accusing the BBMB of favoritism. Further developments are awaited as the state government prepares to take legal action.
