Punjab Police Crack Jalandhar Grenade Attack Case in 12 Hours, Pakistan’s ISI Suspected Behind Plot

Jalandhar grenade attack at Manoranjan Kalia residence latest news: Punjab Special DGP Arpit Shukla on Monday briefed the media on the grenade attack that targeted the residence of senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia late Sunday night in Jalandhar. In a swift breakthrough, Punjab Police successfully cracked the case within 12 hours, arresting two accused involved in the attack.

Speaking at the press conference, DGP Shukla said that initial investigations point to a larger conspiracy aimed at disturbing communal harmony in the state. “This was not just an isolated incident but a deliberate attempt to provoke unrest and instability,” he stated.

The attack, according to police, was orchestrated by Dilshan Akhtar—an associate of notorious gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Shehzad Bhatti. Intelligence inputs and preliminary evidence suggest that the plot had backing from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), with the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International also under the scanner.

The auto-rickshaw used in the crime has been recovered, and multiple raids are currently underway to track down other individuals linked to the broader conspiracy, DGP Shukla confirmed.

“This attack was clearly designed to disrupt peace. Our teams acted swiftly, and the case was cracked in record time. We are committed to uncovering every layer of this conspiracy,” he added.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation across political lines, with calls for enhanced security and a crackdown on cross-border terror networks operating in the region. Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests are expected in the coming days.
