Punjab Police Secures 2-Day Remand for YouTuber Jasbir Singh in Espionage Case

YouTuber Jasbir Singh Remand in Pakistan Espionage Case Latest News Today: The Punjab Police on Saturday secured a two-day police remand for YouTuber Jasbir Singh, arrested earlier this week in connection with a Pakistani espionage network allegedly operating in India. The accused, who runs the YouTube channel ‘Jaan Mahal’, was taken into custody by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, and produced before a local court.
Singh, a resident of Mahlan village in Rupnagar district, is believed to have deep links with Pakistani intelligence operative Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, as well as Jyoti Malhotra, another YouTuber from Haryana who was recently arrested on charges of spying. Singh was earlier remanded to three-day custody and has now been given to the police for two more days.
As Singh was escorted to court under tight security, he told reporters, “Truth will prevail”, before being led inside.
Links to Pakistani Officials and Multiple Visits Abroad
Investigating officials have alleged that Jasbir Singh maintained contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, an expelled official from the Pakistani High Commission. Police sources revealed that Singh had attended the Pakistan National Day celebrations in Delhi on Danish’s invitation, where he met with Pakistani Army officers and vloggers.
Further raising eyebrows, Singh reportedly visited Pakistan thrice — in 2020, 2021, and 2024. Forensic experts are now analysing his electronic devices, which allegedly contain numerous Pakistan-based contacts.
Following the arrest of Malhotra, Singh is believed to have deliberately erased communications and digital evidence linking him to PIOs in an attempt to cover his tracks, said a senior officer.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
An FIR has been registered against Singh at SSOC, Mohali, under The Official Secrets Act and Sections 152 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“The arrest is a major step in unravelling a terror-backed espionage ring with cross-border links. We are investigating to identify all domestic collaborators and dismantle the network completely,” a police spokesperson stated.
Further developments in the case are expected as the remand period continues and authorities expand the scope of the investigation.
