Who is Rachit Kaushik? On the night of February 6, 2024, there were reports on social media that a 'Delhi journalist' Rachit Kaushik was 'kidnapped' from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Then it was revealed that those who had picked up the journalist were from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The journalist picked up by Punjab Police is YouTuber Rachit Kaushik. He runs a channel on social media by the name ‘Sab Loktantra’. According to the reports, Rachit Kaushik, resident of Shahdara, Delhi, had gone to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh to attend his niece's wedding.
Story behind the arrest:
Based on the complaint of a priest, Punjab Police has arrested him. Rachit had allegedly made a video on the corruption by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his son. Seeing this, a priest's sentiments were hurt and he complained to the police. Showing promptness on this complaint, Punjab Police picked up Rachit Kaushik from UP.
In the FIR registered on the complaint of the priest, there is neither any mention of Rachit Kaushik or 'Sab Loktantra' channel anywhere nor is there any mention of video on Arvind Kejriwal. The FIR accuses the X handle 'No Conversion' of hurting religious sentiments because the video was reshared from this Twitter handle. It is being claimed that Rachit Kaushik has been arrested. Now, netizens are raising their voices on social media to release Rachit Kaushik.
According to the information, Rachit Kaushik was taken away by four policemen in a white Scorpio. As per Rachit Kaushik's post on Instagram, he had made a video on the corruption of AAP leaders, after which he was arrested. His family has alleged that this has been done to take revenge. In the meanwhile, Rachit's family has appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intervene in this matter.
