Punjab School Winter Vacation Holiday Extension Latest News Today: Parents and educators across Punjab are eagerly awaiting an official announcement on whether the state government will extend winter vacations for schools beyond January 7 or introduce revised school timings similar to the neighboring Chandigarh administration.
The Punjab Government had earlier declared winter holidays in schools till January 31, only to revise the break to end on January 7. However, with temperatures plummeting and foggy conditions prevailing, parents are urging the authorities to either extend the vacation or adjust school schedules to ensure students’ safety.
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Administration has already implemented revised school timings to address the harsh winter conditions. The new measures, effective until January 11, 2025, include:
Classes up to VIII:
- Physical classes remain suspended.
- Online classes are encouraged, starting at 9:00 AM.
- Adjusted staff schedules to facilitate online learning.
Classes IX to XII:
- Schools may operate, starting no earlier than 9:30 AM and concluding by 3:30 PM.
- For pre-board examinations, schools may open at 9:00 AM if necessary.
- Staff schedules have been adjusted accordingly.
These steps have been well-received by parents in Chandigarh, prompting calls for similar measures in Punjab.
