Over 4.32 Lakh Punjab Farmers Benefit from MSP So Far; Patiala Leads Procurement, Tarn Taran Second

Chandigarh: The Punjab Government’s proactive efforts to ensure a smooth paddy procurement season have resulted in over 4.32 lakh farmers receiving benefits under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) till October 21, according to the Information and Public Relations Department.

Guided by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision and the supervision of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, procurement, lifting, and payment processes are progressing in full swing across the state.

Patiala district leads in the number of farmers benefitting from MSP with 57,546 farmers, followed by flood-affected Tarn Taran where 38,578 farmers have received payments. Ferozepur ranks third with 35,501 farmers benefitting so far.

As of October 21 evening, 58.40 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy had arrived in mandis across Punjab. Out of this, 56.05 lakh MT, or 95 percent, has already been procured.

The total lifting of paddy from mandis has reached 39.85 lakh MT, accounting for 71 percent of the total procured crop so far.

Mann government is ensuring direct payment to farmers' accounts within 24 hours.

The state government reiterated that all arrangements are in place to ensure farmers receive timely payments and that the procurement process continues seamlessly across Punjab.
