Chandigarh: President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Sunil Jakhar today announced that Punjab Congress would start series of protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi against the anti-farmers bills passed by the Union government, after the festival of Deepawali.

In a statement issued here today, the President of Punjab Congress said that the primary aim of series of these protests was to give a wakening call to the Centre government, who was hell bent upon breaking the backbone of the agrarian economy of the state by ruining the farmers through these anti-farmers bills.

He said that the haughty attitude being shown by the Union government was a threat to the Federal structure of the country as the centre government was neither paying heed to issues flagged by Punjab government nor it was ready to understand the anger amongst masses.

Jakhar unequivocally said that the manner in which the Union government was hell bent on ruining the farmers, by acting as a puppet in hands of corporate families, it would have far reaching consequences.

The President of Punjab Congress said that these anti-farmers bills would ruin the economy of the state thereby having castigating effects on the food growers.

The President of Punjab Congress said that the hard working and resilient farmers of the state had made the country self reliant in food production but now on the behest of the corporate lobby Union government was adamant on making the state slave of these companies thereby putting the food security of the country in peril.

However, he categorically said that the brave Punjabis would never allow these nefarious plans of the union government to succeed. Jakhar said that the Punjab Congress has now decided to hold series of protests at Jantar Mantar where everyday turn wise Congress MLAs would sit in for securing the interests of farmers.
