CHANDIGARH: In a significant development, Punjab has welcomed its new Advocate General (AG) as Gurminder Singh Garry, a seasoned senior advocate, has been officially approved by the Punjab Cabinet to take on this critical role. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann via a tweet, marking a notable transition in the state's legal representation.

The appointment follows the resignation of Advocate General Vinod Ghai, a move that had been in the discussions for some time but garnered momentum particularly after the Punjab government decided to retract its plan to dissolve 13,000 panchayats following a High Court directive.

During the announcement, CM Mann shed light on the discussions held during the meeting. He highlighted the deliberations regarding the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue, firmly asserting that Punjab will not relinquish any excess water to other states under any circumstances.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister hinted at a forthcoming monsoon session where crucial decisions are anticipated to be finalized. He emphasized that numerous pro-people decisions had been approved during the meeting, showcasing the government's dedication to addressing key issues and enhancing the welfare of the citizens of Punjab.
