Punjab's 'Mission Rozgar' Milestone: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Achieves 65,000+ Job Milestone in 4-Year Tenure

Under the flagship Mission Rozgar, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann distributed appointment letters to 606 Education Department recruits at Tagore Theatre. This achievement contributes to a historic milestone, with over 65,000 government jobs provided in Punjab within four years. The new appointees include 385 Special Educator Teachers, 157 Primary Teachers, 8 Principals, and 56 recruits on compassionate grounds.

CM Mann extended New Year greetings to the appointees, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to merit-based, transparent, and fair recruitment. He highlighted that since April 2022, a massive drive has provided 65,000 government jobs. Mann expressed pride that every appointment was made with total fairness, noting that not a single selection has faced a legal challenge. He described the ceremony as a historic milestone for Punjab’s youth.

The Chief Minister contrasted today’s efficiency with the past, when youth waited years for jobs, constantly checking newspapers and postboxes. He declared those days over, highlighting a new system where capability is the only criterion for selection. Now, the Punjab Government honors deserving candidates by personally handing over appointment letters.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann criticized previous governments for favoring relatives and favorites over merit, leaving qualified youth to struggle for employment. He noted that past leaders ignored the struggles of the unemployed youth. In contrast, his administration has ensured that in just four years, young people from every corner of Punjab across villages and cities now secure government positions based purely on their competence.

He said that the current system provides ordinary, hardworking youth with fair opportunities. He criticized traditional parties for prioritizing their own families, asserting that, for him, the entire state of Punjab is his family.

The Chief Minister announced a landmark education reform with the creation of a dedicated cadre for Special Educator Teachers. Currently, 48,000 children with special needs are enrolled in Punjab’s government schools. To provide them with tailored, high-quality instruction, the government has appointed 385 specialized teachers under this new cadre. These professionals will focus on developing essential skills at both primary and secondary levels.

Addressing the new Special Educator Teachers, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized that their role transcends traditional instruction, representing a profound service to humanity. He noted that their influence in shaping the future of children with special needs often surpasses that of their parents. The Chief Minister urged the recruits to embrace this noble mission with unwavering commitment, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Congratulating the new teachers and principals, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized that a nation’s future resides in their hands. Comparing a teacher to a sculptor, he noted their power to shape students into future professionals. He highlighted that early education leaves an indelible mark on innocent minds.

He highlighted that Punjab’s educators are now receiving world-class training. To date, 234 principals have been trained in Singapore, 249 head teachers at IIM Ahmedabad, and 216 primary teachers at Finland’s University of Turku.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Punjab’s educational reforms are gaining national recognition. The state is establishing 118 Schools of Eminence to transform the lives of underprivileged children. The government is providing free uniforms and to ensure no female student is left behind, it has launched a dedicated free bus service for girls.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains commended CM Bhagwant Singh Mann for spearheading Punjab’s educational transformation. He highlighted that since 2022, the government has eliminated a critical infrastructure gap; previously, 4 lakh of the 28 lakh government school students lacked desks. Today, every student has proper seating. Additionally, the Minister noted that the newly launched free bus service is providing reliable transportation to nearly 10,000 schoolgirls across the state every single day.

During the event, newly recruited teachers shared their success stories. Nitin, from Malout, described the fulfillment of his lifelong ambition. Despite being selected as a police constable in 2025, he chose to pursue his passion for education. He expressed deep gratitude to CM Bhagwant Singh Mann for a transparent recruitment process that recognized his hard work.

New recruits Navpreet Kaur of Gurdaspur and Shilpa of Patiala praised the transparent, merit-based selection process. Navpreet, previously a private special educator, called her government appointment a dream come true. Another teacher from Fazilka shared her journey, noting that her twelve-year wait for a government position had finally ended.

The ceremony was attended by senior leadership, including Education Secretary Anindita Mitra, Higher Education Director H.S. Brar, and Secondary Education Director Gurinder Singh Sodhi, alongside other prominent government officials.
