Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Visits Punjab with Two Teams, Latest News: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Thursday morning in a press conference, said that over 1400 villages in Punjab are affected by the floods, and he will take stock of the situation today.

The Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Minister of Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said that he was sent by Prime Minister Modi and would try to reach the affected villages and meet people.

The minister said that to assess the situation, two central teams comprising officials from various departments have reached Punjab today. The team includes officials from agriculture, rural development, road department, electricity department, finance, and the Department of Water Resources.

The first team will visit the villages of Fazilka, Ferozepur, and Bathinda, and the other will cover Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, and Jalandhar. Over the next two days, these teams will assess the ground situation and evaluate the damage to livelihoods. The assessment will start today and will submit a report to the centre once the assessment is done.

Submits a memorandum for an Immediate release of compensation of Rs. 2000 crore for Ajnala

Subsequently, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, who represents the Ajnala constituency in the Punjab, submitted a memorandum to Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan for an immediate compensation of Rs. 2000 crore in the first phase for the immediate compensation of the flood damage in Ajnala. Additionally, a memorandum has been submitted for the immediate release of Rs. 60,000 crore to the Punjab government from the Central Government.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will meet the Governor and the Agriculture Minister of Punjab at Amritsar Airport and leave for the flood-affected areas of Amritsar, Kapurthala, and Gurdaspur at 10 am. He will return late in the evening and hold a meeting with officials in Amritsar.

Meanwhile, on the same day, today, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with the AAP national Convener Arvind Kejriwal, is scheduled to take stock of the flood-affected areas and will also review the relief work in Punjab. However, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has fallen ill, and Arvind Kejriwal is visiting the CM's residence to reportedly inquire about his health.

Mann Sarkar released Rs crore to tackle floods in Punjab, so far

Bhagwant Mann government has released a total of Rs 71 crore to tackle the flood situation as of now. â‚¹35.50 crore was issued earlier to all districts in the first phase, and an additional Rs 35.50 crore was sanctioned on Wednesday for the 12 flood-affected districts that have borne the maximum brunt of devastation.

The Punjab government has urged citizens to extend support to families affected by the floods by contributing to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Donations can be made instantly via UPI by scanning the official QR code, with a maximum limit of 1 lakh rupees per person per day.
