Governor Banwarilal Purohit

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit has ordered Chandigarh DGP Praveer Ranjan to conduct a forensic examination of the video as well as investigate the facts given in the complaint of MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in the minister's obscene video case. However, the Punjab government, which has come out in defense of the alleged minister, said that they have not received any order from the governor yet.

Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that it is not right to make assumptions about anyone. If we receive the Governor's order, the video and the facts will be examined from every aspect.

Reportedly, The governor had sent the video to the DGP, Chandigarh Police, for forensic verification, two officials. Sukhpal Khaira, who complained to Purohit about the minister’s alleged misconduct and handed over the purported ‘objectionable video’, tweeted that the governor forwarded the video to Chandigarh Police to verify its authenticity and sought the forensic report.

While defending Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchakk, CM Bhagwant Mann ridiculed the charges of Sukhpal Khaira, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Akali leader Bikram Majithia and said that all three are the same. The Punjab chief minister said that both Khaira and Sirsa were used to making false allegations. He said, "If Manjinder Singh Sirsa is saying that Kataruchak has resigned, then maybe Kataruchak has handed over his resignation to Sirsa because I have not received it."
