Punjab Government Enhances Pension for Freedom Fighters, Ensuring Dignity and Respect Latest News: Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has reaffirmed its commitment to honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters by enhancing their monthly pension to Rs 11,000. The initiative, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, underscores the State’s dedication to the welfare of those who played a pivotal role in securing India’s independence, along with their families.
Punjab Minister Mohinder Bhagat said that the pension amount, which previously stood at Rs 9,400, has been revised upward by the present government as a mark of gratitude and respect. “By increasing this pension, the CM Mann-led Punjab Government has not only strengthened the financial support system for our heroes but also reinforced the message that Punjab will always stand by them and their families,” he noted.
Highlighting Punjab’s unmatched role in the freedom movement, Bhagat stressed that honouring these brave men and women is the State’s foremost duty. “The courage and sacrifices of Punjabi revolutionaries gave strength to the national movement. Their legacy is a guiding light for future generations,” he added.
The Government has also emphasized that this step is not merely financial assistance, but a gesture to safeguard the dignity of those who fought for India’s sovereignty. Officials stated that the Punjab Government remains fully committed to supporting freedom fighters and ensuring their contributions are remembered with pride.
