Punjab Weather Update Latest News Today, IMD Heavy Rain Alert: Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across the country, specifically in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Wayanad. 

Following heavy devastation in Wayanad, the monsoon has now engulfed many states of North India, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Likewise, the India Meteorological Department has issued a high alert in North India, from Punjab to Uttar Pradesh. 

According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, moderate rain is possible in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi during the next 24 hours. 

The Meteorological Department stated that, in the last 24 hours, Pathankot received 157.2 MM, Amritsar 90.2 MM, Patiala 31.6 MM, and Gurdaspur 40.7 MM rain. 

It is pertinent to mention that 5 people have died and about 45 people are still missing in several incidents of cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh. At the same time, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an advisory and appealed to people to avoid going out unless necessary. The advisory says, "Avoid going to areas where there is often a problem of waterlogging."
