Punjab-Haryana Shivers Amid Icy Gusts

The Meteorological Department reports that Chandigarh bore the brunt of this unusual cold spell on Monday, recording a temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius-six degrees below the normal limit. The cities of Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab experienced biting cold winds, causing daytime temperatures to dip significantly. Maximum temperatures in these regions were recorded at 10.6 degrees Celsius and 10.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, both falling below the normal range.

Dense Fog Envelops Northwest and Eastern India

As if the biting cold weren't enough, the Meteorological Department predicts dense fog in parts of northwest and eastern India for the next three days. An early morning update reveals zero visibility in cities like Patiala, Ambala, and Amritsar, emphasizing the severity of the foggy conditions. The Indian Meteorological Department classifies visibility between zero and 50 meters as "very dense fog," with varying degrees of density up to 1,000 meters.

Cold Wave Alert for Central India

The Indian Meteorological Department issued a cold wave alert for central regions, including parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and North Rajasthan.
