Weather Update: Amid flood-like situation in Himachal Pradesh, Here's what IMD said on Punjab

Punjab Weather Update, IMD Forecast Latest News Today: While Himachal Pradesh is witnessing a flood-like situation, similar to what happened in 2023, the India Meteorological Department has issued an alert in several areas of Punjab as well. 

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several areas in Punjab witnessed heavy rains with IMD issuing yellow alerts in several districts — Tarn Tarn, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Moga, Faridkot, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Fazilka, while, in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Mansa, Bathinda, Sangrur have been issued orange alert on August 1, which means very heavy rainfall is predicted in these districts of Punjab. 

On August 2, there will be an orange alert in the districts of Sangrur, Mansa, Barnala, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, and Pathankot whereas in other districts, there will be a yellow alert, as per the IMD. 

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) update, a yellow alert has been issued over Punjab on 3 August  2024 in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Rupanagar. However, in other districts, there will be a green alert, which means there will be no rain.
