CM Bhagwant Mann Walks the Talk: Surprise Visit to Tehsil Showed His Commitment to Clean, People-Centric Governance

Mohali: True to his promise of delivering corruption-free and citizen-friendly governance, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann once made an unannounced visit to the Sub-Registrar's Office in Mohali, catching both the staff and public by surprise—but winning hearts with his hands-on approach.

The purpose of his visit? To personally assess the functioning of the newly launched 'Easy Registry System', an initiative he had promised would transform the way land and property registrations are handled across Punjab.

"I didn’t come here to find faults," Mann told onlookers, "I came to make sure the system is working the way we promised the people of Punjab it would."

This surprise inspection wasn’t just a formality—it was a clear message that when Bhagwant Mann makes a commitment to the people, he follows through with direct action. Speaking with officials including DC Komal Mittal and other tehsil officers, and even interacting with citizens waiting for their property registration, Mann personally reviewed the efficiency and transparency of the new process.

A Leader on the Ground, Not Behind a Desk
Unlike previous administrations, Mann has made it his personal mission to eliminate red tape, middlemen, and under-the-table dealings—long the bane of land registry processes in Punjab. The ‘Easy Registry’ system aims to do just that.

"This is governance in real time. No hidden dealings, no brokers. Just direct services for the people," Mann said during his 20-minute review.

Under the new system:

Citizens no longer need private fee writers (Vaseek Navis).

All payments, including stamp duty and registration fees, are processed through a single, unified digital transaction.

The system fosters self-reliance, allowing individuals to complete their property transactions independently.

A First in India—Launched and Monitored by CM Himself
Though jointly inaugurated with AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, it is Bhagwant Mann who has taken the reins to ensure the system is implemented and monitored rigorously. His Mohali visit marked the second day of the system's launch—and his commitment to real-time governance.

Mann didn’t wait for bureaucratic reports—he went straight to the people. Speaking to citizens present at the office, he gathered unfiltered feedback on the scheme’s impact and efficiency. Many citizens expressed satisfaction, and some even admitted this was the first time they had seen such transparency and quick service at a tehsil office.

A Vision Turned Reality—Now Going Statewide
Chief Minister Mann announced that the Easy Registry system, now operational in Mohali, will be trialed in all districts between July 15 and August 1, and from August 1 onward, it will be officially rolled out across the state.

“This is not just about digitization; it’s about dignity for the people. No more running to agents, no more bribery, no more confusion,” he added.

He emphasized that the real victory lies in restoring public trust in government offices—something his surprise visit undoubtedly strengthened.

A Government That Delivers
This visit, and the larger 'Easy Registry' mission, serves as a shining example of Bhagwant Mann’s hands-on governance style—where promises are not left to rot in files, but fulfilled on the ground with resolve and visibility.

While many politicians promise change, Bhagwant Mann is ensuring it arrives—on time, and in person.
