Gangster Linked to Goldy Brar Arrested After Police Encounter in Mohali

Punjab Mohali and Moga Encounter Latest News Today: In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in coordination with Mohali Police, arrested notorious gangster Malkiat alias Maxi, an operative of foreign-based terrorist Goldy Brar and gangster Goldy Dhillon. The arrest followed a brief encounter near Ghaggar bridge on the Zirakpur-Ambala Highway, SAS Nagar, as disclosed by DGP Gaurav Yadav in a tweet.

During the operation, Maxi attempted to escape and opened fire at the police team. In retaliation, the police responded with self-defense firing, leading to Maxi sustaining a gunshot wound in his left leg. He was immediately shifted to Civil Hospital, Mohali, for medical treatment.

Maxi’s Criminal Background and Extortion Network

Hailing from Rodala village in Rajasansi, Amritsar, Maxi has been an active member of an extortion syndicate operated by Goldy Brar and Goldy Dhillon. In January 2025, he and his associates demanded ₹50 lakh from a Mohali-based property dealer. His criminal record includes multiple cases under the Arms Act and extortion-related offenses.

Seizures and Legal Action

Police recovered a .32 caliber pistol from the encounter site near Ghaggar bridge, Dera Bassi. An FIR has been lodged, and both Maxi and his associate, Sandeep, have been arrested on production warrants.

Tarn Taran Encounter

Meanwhile, another police-gangster encounter took place in Kheda village, Tarn Taran district on Saturday, where three gangsters engaged in a firefight with Punjab Police. Two were injured, and one was arrested. A police vehicle was also hit by gunfire. Further investigations are underway.
