Punjab Weather Update: IMD Issues Orange Alert in 12 Districts, Issues Warning

India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange alert for the next few days in 12 districts of the state.

Punjab IMD Weather Update Today news: While people in Northern India are celebrating the new year with their loved ones under the shed of fog and cold waves, the India Meteorological Department has issued a warning related to weather along with an orange alert in 12 districts of the state. 

According to information, the India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange alert for the next few days in 12 districts of the state — Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala. 

Likewise, a yellow alert has been issued in Firozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa, Rupnagar, and SAS Nagar. Talking about these warnings, the yellow alert in Firozpur, Faridkor, Moga, Barnala, Rupnagar, and SAS Nagar has been issued for the next five days while Mansa, Bathinda, Muktsar, and Fazilka have been issued yellow alerts for only next two days (i.e. January 1 and 2). 

Similarly, the orange alert in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Fatehgarh Sahib, has been issued for the next five days until January 5. On the other hand, the orange alert in Sangrur, and Patiala has been issued for only two days until January 2 followed by a yellow alert until January 5. 

As per the India Meteorological Department, the orange alert indicates dense to very dense fog along with cold day to severe cold days. Likewise, the yellow alert indicates dense fog and a cold day.
